Welcoming Damien Cofield, Cofield Wines Rutherglen to The Wine Loop, Thurs 16th May dinner

Delighted to be kicking off our Autumn series with Damien, part of the Cofield family who have been making wine in winemaking in Rutherglen for more than a century.

Cofield Wines was founded in 1990 by Damien’s father Max. Barely in his teens at the time, the winery has been omnipresent in Damien’s life since. Studying wine science at Charles Sturt University, he banked the obligatory vintage overseas in Chablis, France before taking the reins at Cofield with his wife Mel in 2007.

Delivering “distinctive, varietally honest quality wines”, fruit is sourced from their own vineyards in Rutherglen as well as grape growers in the King Valley, Alpine Valley and Beechworth. Damien will be guiding you through a line up including his Premium sparkling wines and Rutherglen regional specialties such as Durif and Muscat.

Matt McConnell is the executive chef and co-owner of Bar Lourinhã in Melbourne’s Little Collins Street and has been at the centre of Melbourne’s thriving bar and dining culture for the past decade.  Awarded one chef’s hat in the Good Food Guide in October 2017, Matt’s energy and inspiration are centred around enjoying flavours in a fun and casual setting that reflects the Iberian and Mediterranean passion and spirit for eating and drinking.
